I was born in Heidelberg, but grew up in Munich, Germany.
After school and my mandatory army service I did a Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Mission in Muizenberg, South Africa, in 1991. During that school I received a call to ministry and also first met my wife to be Kay. I did three more training schools with YWAM, in Muizenberg and Texas, before I married Kay in 1995. We both did a teaching course with YWAM in Texas and taught the following year at their school.
In 1998 we returned to Texas and joined the MercyWorks department that is involved in local and international relief work. In my time with MercyWorks I was involved in relief work in Honduras, China and Albania. During that time our first daughter was born.
In 2000 I came on a scouting trip to Southern Africa to assess how teams from the States could assist ministries to children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Shortly after returning to Texas it became clear that it was timefor us to move back to South Africa to work from there. Later that year our little family joined Beautiful Gate’s home for HIV-positive children in Crossroads near Cape Town. We soon joined The Father’s House Christian Fellowship and the end of the year our son was born.
I stayed with Beatiful Gate and YWAM until 2004, when “Helfen In Verantwortung e.V.” was started in Germany. I became their project manager and MercyAIDS was launched in South Africa. Our youngest, a daughter, was also born that year.
Since 2005 I have given practical help to families, children’s homes and ministries in Fisantekraal, Mfuleni and Dunoon, and have been involved in Philippi Trust’s camp work and in kids' events.
