Child Care Forum Training
The Child Care Forum we are currently involved with is the Fisantekraal Shalom Trust.
We aim for the mobilisation of a community for early identification of children and families in need so as to provide comprehensive care (i.e. physical, emotional, social, economic and spiritual), in order to maximise the quality of life of orphaned and vulnerable children.
Core Roles of the CCF
1. Assessing the situation
2. Community mobilisation
3. Strengthening the care-giving and coping capacities of families
4. Implementing safe spaces for children -support groups etc
Part of the training we are facilitating is bringing organisations that work in Fisantekraal and organisations that are in the community into a collabroration that encourages broader community involvement, advocacy and interventions that will improve the life of children in the community of Fisantekraal.
Barabara and Kay did a master trainers course of how to train and implement Child Care Forums in 2010 and were part of a roll out program in the Western Cape. Although the program was soon stopped for the lack of funding and other challenges, Kay and Barbara decided to actively work towards enabling the community of Fisantekraal to build a CCF.
